7/3/2023 0 Comments Privilege kate brian![]() ![]() Traditionally in Canada, the majority of immigrants tended to settle in the largest cities in Canada and, while some did come to this region, many eventually moved to these same cities for work opportunities and to be closer to others from the same country of origin. A number of strategies have been employed and the one that seems to be having some impact in addressing this concern is increased immigration. This had led to a number of challenges, including strains on our health-care system and the need to attract younger people to settle in this region. This is particularly so here in Atlantic Canada, where all four provinces have the highest senior populations in the country, with Newfoundland and Labrador having the fastest aging population in the country. ![]() Like many developed nations in the Western world in recent decades, Canada has seen a declining birth rate and an increasingly aging population. ![]()
